Question

in my quest to search for a reputable shop I bumped into one that told me they can get me a chipped ecu to match my setup of 8psi and recomended getting a better fuel pump also

is this a good idea? thanks!

it really depends on many things . "chipping" the ecu will dedicate it to a particular program . in order to run a different setup (return to stock or change parts) the ecu may have to be rechipped or have the rom reprogramed . "piggyback devices" although a dirty word can be disabled and removed leaving the stock ecu programing unmolested . there is a good chance you will have need for the stock ecu in the future it might be best not to void that option . what kind of tuning and where the maps the shop is chipping in come from is also something you need to find out . not having the intimate details my opinion at this point would be to take your time and educate yourself on the available options . aem and hondata ems's may be some dough , but they will be able to keep up with future modifications in addition to tweaking power outa the current setup .

it may not be a bad idea, but i would be VERY cautious about such claims.
